Mike writes: This 1964 Dodge Polara two door hardtop is the real deal. VIN 634215**** The Mopar is one of five 1964 Dodge Polara two door hardtops built with the 426 cubic inch Ramcharger III engines. The Dodge a) is listed in the Darrell Davis MAX WEDGE serial number book and b) is the ONLY ONE known to exist in the Darrell Davis Registry. Plus, I have a copy of the IBM punch card and production record by the Chrysler Historical Society for further historical documentation. |
Fender Tag Details
I have complete history from the day delivery on 12/31/1963. Documentation includes: VIN tag, fender tag, body code stampings on the radiator support and rear package tray support and casting dates. Also included is the certicard and the advanced dealer shipping notice.
In 2013 at the Chrysler Carlisle Nationals we brought the Mopar to the Max Wedge Reunion where Mike Buckle -- one of the Ramchargers who worked on and raced these Mopars -- was in attendance. Mike Buckle was asked during an interview if he had a favorite Max Wedge car in the display: he said it was this 1964 Dodge Polara! At the 2014 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in Chicago, the Polara received 965 points out of 1000 and was awarded a Concourse Gold Certificate for excellence. In March of 2017 at the World of Wheels in Minneapolis the Polara won 1st place in its class.
This Dodge was ordered by Jim Hartenstein Jr. of New Freedom, Pennsylvania. He took delivery on December 31, 1963. Jim raced the car for five seasons without a single breakdown. Jim gave me four trophies, seventy three time slips and two Certificates of Performance. as a strip record holder at Quarter Aces Dragway. He also gave me the wheel covers that came with the car but were never installed. (Jim also supplied me with many photos and paperwork: too much to list here.) |
