Don writes: My 1965 Plymouth Belvedere I sedan post is currently a Nostalgia Super Stock race car that runs low 11's with a best quarter mile run of 11.30 at 117 mph. Last run was in September 2023 where it ran a best of 11.42 at 116 mph. The Belvedere can be converted back to a near stock street car easily as it has a pump gas engine and I've not butchered the car in any noticeable way in its transformation to a race car. Originally the Plymouth was a Slant 6 automatic; it currently runs an approximately 550 HP 60 over 440 with an 800cfm AVS2 4bbl Edelbrock carburetor through a 727 TorqueFlight transmission with good A&A Transmission parts and 530 stall 501 converter into a Dana 60 rear end with 4.56 gears. Calvert suspension and shocks provide stability. The Plymouth does high 1.5's 60-foots on 9 inch slicks. A factory style 1965 Hemi hood scoop is used and painted body color. A six-point chrome moly roll bar is in place with new 5-point harness and recovered factory bucket seats modified for the submarine strap. The Plymouth weight is 3400 pounds wet without driver. I have a spreadsheet of run records and most receipts for the build. Also, a limited number of spare parts are available that we can discuss about trading out or an outright purchase to help in a conversion to the street, including a four-speed transmission set-up and an almost complete TTI 3 inch exhaust system.

It took 30 years of baby steps to get the Plymouth to this condition. The Mopar turned out nice even, as in life, she got a few nicks and bruises along the way, none of which were serious. We've had a great adventure. Going to miss her but time to move on from the drag racing part of my life.
