Ted T. writes: 1964 Plymouths have always been among my favorites, dating back to the 1964 Belvedere 4 speed street wedge I “almost got” from the former Harris Auto dealership in Providence, RI...until my father looked under the hood!

In any case, trying to find a 1964 2 door sedan was out of the question. The Plymouths were either complete rust buckets or had a price tag that included my firstborn child. Luckily in 2009 I happened upon a collector who had acquired a 1964 Belvedere wagon. Having too many projects in his garage(s) — and having just finished a numbers-matching 1969 Roadrunner convertible, he elected to “thin the herd” — which included the 102K mile 1964 wagon that I purchased after having a friend and bodyshop owner examine the Mopar, top to bottom. Amazingly, the wagon had a very solid floor, no rust, no rot, and a 318 Poly with automatic transmission and factory a/c and tinted glass.

For the summer of 2010 we just drove the wagon. During the winter of 2010 the Mopar was taken apart, all new seals installed, front power disc brakes, new exhaust and new paint, plus the “faux wood” airbrushed surfboard.
