1962 Dodge Phoenix

Tony writes from Gold Coast, Australia: I found the 1962 to 1965 Mopar website after my wife purchased me a 1962 Dodge Phoenix for my 50th birthday (guess it would be a 440 Dart in the USA, but as it was assembled here in Australia it is a 4 door Phoenix).

Anyway, many years ago in my youth I had a 1962 Dodge Dart, so now I am about to relive my late teen days. But to do so, I will have to do a bit of work to get the old girl back into roadworthy condition. It is not bad, needs paint, upholstery, body seals (all the rubbers, doors, trunk, bonnet, etc). Engine runs sweet as a nut, trans shifts okay, but will get it serviced. Electrical...well not sure what to say there, horn and lights work (well most of the lights), but there are a few loose wires that need to be traced, or tidied up.

The photo’s show what my good lady purchased...I think she did well. As you can see, the Dodge still has the 318 Poly motor (but has a 4 barrel fitted). It is running 15 inch wheels / and tires (that will be sorted quickly).

Along with paint I am now actively collecting parts so that I can build up the old Poly engine so that it is a bit more of a beast. 1964 Dodge Phoenix 318 Poly engine

Our 1962 Phoenix Dodges used a different dash
and instruments...more like the Dodge Lancer than the U.S. Dart.
