1964 Plymouth Belvedere The Jersey Duke

September 2012 Mopar of the Month

Bob writes: My 1964 Plymouth Belvedere, The Jersey Duke is a Jack Werst (AKA "Mr. 5 and 50") tribute car.

I own the Plymouth and drive this Mopar too. I have circle track-raced my whole life but now really enjoying drag racing for the last 3 years with the 422 ALLSTARS. The Plymouth finished in the 422 ALLSTARS Top Ten for 2010 and 2011.

The Mopar has a Rich LaMont built 440 Wedge with Indy heads and intake and two Carter AFB carburetors,
pushing the torque through a 727 TorqueFlite transmission (ATI) to a Ford 9 inch rear.

The best time so far is 9.39 and 143 MPH in the 1/4 mile.

Thanks Bob!

The Max Wedge Mopars “back in the day” set the stage for the Muscle Car era in the later 1960’s and early 1970’s!

And these Mopars look just as good today — and are as exciting as ever!   smile!
