The original owner passed away in 1986, and the Dodge was sold for $2000 to a niece, who drove it a little while in college, and then stored the car in her garage for the next 17 years. The Mopar was driven less than 2000 miles in that entire time, and thankfully grandma never took it out during the winter, so the road salt did not eat up the entire car. |
The Lancer still sports the original paint job and interior, which is almost flawless.
The exterior has a few blemishes from parking accidents, but overall it is a true survivor.
Complete with the broadcast sheet and original jack and spare,
it was impossible for me to pass on The Road Toad. |

The front end has been upgraded with new bushings, ball joints, hollow swaybar, torsion bars, and disc brakes. Other plans include rear end upgrade, 4 speed manual tranny, and new wheels and tires. |
Soon after purchasing the Lancer, I replaced the 170ci motor with a 225ci slant six,
complete with a 1968 head that was ported, polished and decked to achieve 9:1 CR.
The 225 is paired with a 280/270 camshaft and 2x1bbl Offenhauser intake and uses electronic ignition.
The Lancer does not break any land speed records but is fun to drive around.
But for now, I just enjoy every time someone pulls over and stops to talk about my Dodge Lancer Road Toad. |
