1965 Plymouth Sport Fury

February 2013 Mopar of the Month

Tim writes:The body of this Sport Fury has 57,000 miles on it. My son was 13 at the time I purchased the Plymouth and the Mopar has been great for him and I to work on this project together over the years. Now he is 26 and has a Demon of his own!

The Max Wedge engine idles fairly nice and has good throttle response, and is an all around better driver on the street.

The old tunnel ram engine had Edlebrook heads on it and was good for the strip because I had a 5000 stall converter in it. Made it not very streetable. The Sport Fury ran 13.4 in quarter with this setup! 1965 Plymouth Sport Fury old tunnel ram intake

After I installed a Gear Vendors overdrive unit and new drive shaft the Plymouth goes down the freeway at 70 mph @ 2600 rpm. A little more respectable than 3200 at 60 mph with the previous setup.
