1964 Dodge 440

Andy writes: I was reading the local buy and sell
and came across a 1964 Dodge 440 2dr hardtop
for sale for $1000.00.

The Mopar was 800 km from where I live in BC
Canada.

We grew up near were the car was and had moved away 15 years ago. Dad had a car just like it that we left the Dodge in the field when we moved. (The slant 6 was toast and dad had bought a newer 4 door for the growing family.) Last I heard my mom had given the car to some kids.

I thought the car had ended up in the local demo derby were we used to live?

So I gave the guy a call to see if it was dad’s old Dodge and the guy said it was! The 1978 registration was still in his name.

I got a couple email pics and WOW I got exited: the car looked just like we left it. We made a deal for $500 and I got the car.

Dad an I went and picked it up, a little bonding and $250 in fuel. All the parts are there and in good shape except the bumpers.

Dad signed the insurance gift form and for $25 the car was mine.

1964 Dodge 440 passenger's side The Dodge is restorable and my plans are to drop in a 440.

Thanks for this great Web site, it should become invaluable for when I go to restore the Mopar.

P.S., I was a Chevy guy back then.
Thanks Andy,

Wow, great luck and return of an old family member!

And a return to 1962 to 1965 Mopars!

Have fun with the restoration!smile!
