George writes: I found this 2 owner, true survivor in a garage after the Mopar had sat for 21 years. |
The owner parked the Dodge because it failed PA safety inspection for a bad idler arm which he was unable to find at the time. He had intention of restoring the vehicle but just never found the time. He owns a small upholstery shop in Philadelphia that at one time was well known for his Ford and Mercury interior restorations, though he is a Mopar guy. He had collected a lot of NOS stuff for the Coronet which made my life a little easier: (trunk lid medallion, trunk trim panel, headlamp bezels, mirror etc.) |
The Dodge is an original 318 automatic. The seller had set aside a 1965 413 with a 727 with the intention of making the car a 426 street wedge clone. He did give me the motor and transmission with the car, which I purchased for $7,000.00 with the understanding that I would let him restore the interior. I bought the car in October of 2007. I gave him the interior immediately which he completed and it now sits waiting installation. |
The motor is complete and correct down to the air cleaner, fan and exhaust manifolds. The car is painted and near flawless. I installed a hemi scoop from AAR fiberglass. The chrome is done to show quality. I even had all of the original hardware, nuts and bolts re-plated. |
I used the front disc brake conversion from Master Power Brakes; it is a beautiful kit. |
The body now in final assembly and should be cruising by early May 2009. I will send some photos once the Dodge is complete. |
The 1962 to 1965 Mopar Web Site was a great reference tool. Thank you.
Almost complete... |
