1965 Plymouth Fury I

Thomas writes: I recently bought a 1965 Plymouth Fury I 2 door sedan. I found it through a Mopar Club Web site, and thought I would take a look. As it turned out, I found a virtually rust-free Fury in a barn in Watkins, Colorado. The Mopar had been sitting ever since 1983, and it had only 75,812.7 actual miles on a numbers-matching 318 3 speed combinator.

The Fury I was a red 2 door sedan, with a non-original white hardtop. The keys were long gone, but the doors unlocked. None of the chrome had any pitting at all, and the original body paint was still on the car. All the glass was good. So I bought the car for $650.

I picked up some original Mopar Magnum 500 wheels and managed to put them on the Plymouth; it took multiple jacks and a half a day of hard work to get the new tires and wheels installed.

We then pulled the car from the barn with a tractor, and the wheels loosened right up.
