Ask for Mel Major. — Also while at Carlisle, 1962 to 1965 Mopar Mail List Clubmembers: Meet at the Hampton Inn (very close to the Carlisle Fairgrounds) and have an after-hours cocktail (or beverage of your choice) Thursday, Friday or Saturday! Folks will be at the somewhat organized but sprawled out group in the parking lot. November 9 Inaugural Dick Moroso Memorial Classic Car Show and Nostalgia Drag Race! at Moroso Motorsports Park in Jupiter Florida, featuring:
Moroso Motorsports Park will host the Inaugural Dick Moroso Classic Car Show and Nostalgia Drag Race event that will feature drag racing s Greatest Drag Racer of all time, “Big Daddy” Don Garlits and his Swamp Rat VI Top Fuel Dragster! Gartlits and his Swamp Rat VI recorded the first-ever 200 mph run back in 1964.
Famed Max Wedge racer and motor builder Dan Dvorak is also scheduled to attend.
Also part of the event is a gatheing of some of the finest A/FX and Super Stock race cars in existence: including the showing of the 1964 Plymouth Savoy “Satellite” — one of 55 aluminum front end lightweight Hemi cars made in 1964 and not seen in public at an event since 1966!
The Southern Slingshots are set to be on hand with their front engine dragsters and Altereds for some long smoky burnouts and low seven second elapsed times to excite fans. Racers have not been forgotten with several categories for 1978 and older bodied racecars.
