I got this '62 Polara 500 from a fellow coworker that was sick of it taking up space in his garage.

It belonged to his grandparents and he inherited it when they passed away. It has been sitting in his climate controled garage for the past 13 years. "If you can tow it you can have it." he said, and well, I towed it.

The odometer reads: 009543 but I am not sure about that. It looks like it anyway.

I am currently replacing all of the gaskets and replacing the fuel system due to it's old age.

Soon this baby will be prowling the streets once again!
June, 2000 update:

The car runs like a dream. However right now I am replacing some gaskets and the fuel pump so it is temp. out of service. I haven't had a chance to "truly" cruise her yet because I figured that I should replace a few things first like the gas tank, fuel lines, carb, shocks, brake lines and wheel cylinders. After sitting unused for 13 years in my coworkers garage I figured that the fuel had long since gone bad. I was right. Bought the gas tank, took off the old one and it was nothing but a thick tar like goo inside. So, there go the lines too. Better safe than sorry. The carb is an original rebuild... Took me for ever to find.

Thanks, Jack!

You'r co-worker obviously was in the dark about what a jewel he had lurking in that storage all those years!

His loss is your, and our, gain!

Congratulations and keep us posted as to your progress, please!

RE: UPdate. Sorry to hear you have to sell, but looks like a good one for someone to run with!
